The importance of video games as a socializing tool and a transmitter of values has
been corroborated by numerous scientific researchs. Sometimes, the diffusion of this
entertainment reinforces gender discrimination through sexist and stereotyped images.
Nevertheless, in spite of the empirical evidences, the studies that analyze this subject are
insufficient. Considering that advertising must not hinder the achievement of an egalitarian
society, specific studies within the video games sector are necessary. This paper shows
the results achieved after a research in the field of traditional gender roles and children´s
video games.

The construction of female images produced by new technologies (Internet and video games), is
an area of interest for gender researchers due to a significant increase in sexual discrimination
that involves a second-level digital divide between men and women. Likewise, the importance of
video games as a socializing tool and a trasmitter of values has been corroborated. Sometimes
the diffusion of sexist and stereotyped images reinforces patriarchy. This paper shows the results
obtained from the research in gender stereotypes and video games. Our main proposal was to
know, by applying a content analysis, female models which are communicated nowadays by

Italian neorealism entailed, among other things, a new cinematographic aesthetics which, expressed in diverse forms depending on national characteristics, had a paramount importance in different countries all over post-Second World War Europe. In the case of Spain, this movement obviously influenced several directors in the fifties and sixties. Likewise, the neorealist stream transgressed the limits of the screen to spread to film posters in numerous occasions. In the present research paper, we intend to discuss the non-existence in Spain of a poster design which contributed to a distinct aesthetics, in contrast with the phenomenon occurred in Italy. For this purpose, we introduce the results achieved after applying a rigorous content analysis that combined both iconic and textual signifiers. Furthermore, this paper shows how a few Spanish poster designers reached high creative standards that provided interesting innovations to the advertising art, in spite of the multiple adversities they had to face, such as the censorship and lack of artistic freedom prevailing during this period.

Responsible action research. Co-defining solutions to forced migration and communication flows The present paper expounds the results of an international workshop whose main objective was to reach a system mapping and create a collective refugee R&I project applying the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) as part of a current H2020 research project.
Fostering a transition towards responsible research and innovation systems (FoTRISS) is a EU Horizon 2020 project with the aim of offering efficient RRI methods for researchers, citizens, organizations and policy-makers. FoTRRIS creates and implements transition arenas that move from
mere Research and Innovation to Responsible R&I. This project supports knowledge actors to collectively set research agendas that respond effectively and in societally robust ways to local
manifestations of global challenges, such as forced migration. In this workshop, we applied system thinking using the MISC methodology formulated by Anne Snick, in addition to diverse and validated
creative methods to collect and reformulate numerous ideas and proposals related to the to the asylum procedure. Twenty relevant participants representing civil society, business organizations,
public administration agencies (including UNHCR and the government of the City of Madrid), NGO’s and refugees had the opportunity to enlarge their perspectives and co-define a transdisciplinary project concept. The application of FoTRRIS methodology gave as result a compilation of potential leverages and existing barriers according to the priorities of refugees and asylum seekers, as well as an inventory of research topics and innovation activities mainly related to technology, communication
and media; but also, proposals considering integration, legislation, citizen initiatives, education, public awareness and conceptual interventions.

Abstract. An education of quality is a basis for the development and transformation of society.
Nevertheless, teaching innovation is barely considered by the Spanish agencies of academic staff
evaluation that determine the professional promotion of lecturers. In this system that prioritizes
research results to the detriment of teaching, one of the remaining options for lecturers is the design
and participation in teaching innovation projects. This paper contains a critical analysis of the
current situation of Higher Education, with a study that collects the teaching innovation projects in
Communication studies in the public universities of the Community of Madrid, Spain, with the aim of
knowing if these projects define innovation proposals that contribute to the current societal demands.

Abstract This paper shows the research carried out in the area of international legislation about asylum and gender-related persecution as a possible cause of protection. The applied methodology includes in-depth interviews with Spanish and French experts in the matter, as well as with a score of women asylum applicants in both countries. In the same way, we include the documentary analysis made in the field of the current regulations. Furthermore, we enclose a comparative study of the processes of asylum application and the statistics of concession. Our research work expects to find out if any progress in considering gender-related persecution as a decisive cause for concession has been achieved. On the other hand, we also try to discover which are the challenges for international jurisprudence to make effective the respect towards fundamental rights.
