About
David González Álvarez got a degree in History (with a specialization in Archaeology and Prehistory) in the University of Oviedo (2007). Then, he moved to Madrid to study a Master in Prehistoric Archaeology at the University Complutense of Madrid (2009). His MA dissertation was about settlement patterns and subsistence system in the Pigüeña valley (Asturias, North of Spain) during the Iron Age, dealing with the importance of pastoralism and herding mobility in this mountainous area. Since 2009 he works in the Department of Prehistory of the University Complutense of Madrid thanks to a predoctoral fellowship awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education. Gonzalo Ruiz Zapatero is his advisor. His PhD research is focused on the settlement patterns in the Western Cantabrian Mountains during the Iron Age. He is trying to relate the diversity of Iron Age settlement patterns and the variation in the ways in which people took advantage of the environment to identify differences in the social and political construction of the landscape within NW Iberia.
